Although he is not yet an adult, Gong Yuanzhi is the leader of the Zhi lineage, who oversee the Gong residences poisons and medicines. Gong Yuanzhi himself is some of a prodigy when it comes to poisons, and that coupled with his impetuous nature and his penchant for hidden weapons has lead many to keep him at an arms length.

The only thing that Gong Yuanzhi cares about more than poisons is his ge - his older brother Gong Shangjue. When a technicality leads to their third brother Gong Zhiyu becoming the Sword Weilder instead of his infinitely more capable second brother Gong Shangjue, Gong Yuanzhi is willing to go to any lengths to ensure that his ge is the one who actually inherits the title.

He also has a jealous nature when it comes to his older brother, and remains suspicious of his beautiful new sister-in-law, Shuangguang Qian, resentful of the time and attention that his brother pays to her.
