The Coyote is most commonly found in North America, and they typically have a diet of deer, rabbits, hares, rodents, birds, reptiles, etc. The coyote has 19 recognized subspecies, and their scent glands are found on the upper side of the base of their tail. They can either be found in packs or in a solitary state.
When coyotes decided to make, they typically pair bond for 2-3 months before they actually mate. Coyote pups are usually born in dens, hollow trees, or under ledges. Their eyes open after 10 days and the gestation period of the female is typically around 63 days. The average litter size is around 6 pups. By the age of 4-5 weeks coyote pups will already establish a hierarchy and have engaged in fighting before play fighting.
