Zhamao was originally free, and he could have stayed that way. However, he and his wife at the time had no money, and she needed a life saving procedure that they could not afford. After much discussion, he agreed to turn himself in to the police (his reason? he's bisexual, which is a crime where they live) in return for a $50,000 reward. So, he went away, and his wife was able to pay for her treatment.

In prison, Zhamao was not really the best person. Rumors of murder and torture were spread about him because of how aggressive he was. No one really noticed how he was never one to start fights- they only noticed that he would be the one to finish them. And he would always finish them. Inmates grew afraid of him and started to avoid him. He was moved to the high security building after a fight broke out. What no one knew was that he was a kind person, and that he would be willing to defend his friends with his life (if he had any). And for five years, he remained in his high security cell. He didn't interact much with the other inmates.

During the uprising, Zhamao was placed with one of the scouting groups. Their job would be to go out and check an area to make sure it was safe before another group went to join them. It was with that group that Zhamao met Haze, the eldest of the three Marrowolf brothers. However, one day, they were sent to scout a specific spot on the first floor of a building and the group was attacked. Haze was knocked out during the fight. Zhamao was the only one who noticed and carried him away, abandoning his group. When the inmates in his group went to tell him off afterwards, they found Zhamao sitting by Haze's side, holding his hand as his injuries were treated. They left him alone after that. Thankfully, Haze recovered, but ended up losing sight in his right eye.

Zhamao and Haze eventually get together after the uprising. And after a few weeks, Haze moves to Zhamao's cell. The two are very happy together, and Haze doesn't seem to mind the rumors that surround his boyfriend. Haze's brothers, Gabriel and Siel, aren't as supportive. They strongly dislike Zhamao and constantly try to get the two to separate. It doesn't work at all. And Zhamao adores Haze. He loves being around him, and if it was up to him, he would spoil Haze rotten. He also knows that Haze likes his deep, menacing voice, so he uses that to his advantage when he wants something. He doesn't ask for much though, usually it's just cuddles or a kiss goodnight.
Then Haze gets hurt. He is jumped by a bunch of inmates who are trying to crush Zhamao by getting rid of Haze. Zhamao jumps in and chases them off, but not before they badly hurt Haze. However, Haze is able to recover within a few days and they continue normal life. And then it happens again. This time, Zhamao is not able to intervene soon enough. Haze has to be airlifted to the hospital outside of the prison, and Zhamao is once again isolated and alone. He is incredibly worried and does not sleep much for a few days. He is later introduced to a man named Dust. When he meets Dust, the poor guy is barely able to walk because of how starved he is. He manages to befriend Dust, who, like him, is also alone and friendless. He helps Dust improve his health and the two become good friends. He also becomes the guardian of a runaway orphan named Aqua. They become a very well known trio, but are still avoided by others. Eventually, Zhamao learns that some of the inmates are planning to hurt Dust. When they attack, Zhamao turns the fight against them (it's a 3 v 1 fight), injuring two of the men and capturing the third. The other two flee, but Zhamao ties up the third. He finds out that the man's name is Auburn, and is told by another inmate that Auburn is a very sensitive person. He treats Auburn with respect and kindness, and eventually the two become friends.

Zhamao is overjoyed when Haze returns. He excitedly introduces Haze to his new friends and they all bond with each other. They all live happily together in Zhamao's cell, not giving a single heck about what the other inmates think about them.

Looks- Zhamao has pale skin and grey-near black hair. It has some specks of black but is mostly grey. His body is covered in old scars. He's tall and muscular (and way too proud). His face is often stuck in his usual 'I am tired' expression, but he is known to light up with joy around his friends or Haze.
Attire- Honestly, he wears an old striped shirt and black pants. Sometimes there's no shirt, sometimes there's no pants. Depends on his mood and who he will be spending the day with.
Personality/behavior- He's a very kind man who loves to talk. He likes helping others, even if they do not accept him. Around Haze and his friends, he's extra bubbly, sweet, and cuddly. He is also fiercely protective of his group. If provoked, Zhamao will make sure that the opposing party knows that he is willing to fight. He is also known to be a bit sassy at times.
