Sunstone and Cereza are best friends and have been since they first joined the clan. They are very different, which makes the rest of the clan wonder how they get along so well. But in reality, this is definitely a case of opposites attracting, because they both long for qualities that the other has, which seems to be why they enjoy each others' company so much. Sunstone is very comical, silly, and fun-loving, while Cereza is much more serious and critical. Sunstone enjoys the intelligence that Cereza has; he always seems to be teaching him new things and always surprises him the the amount of knowledge he has about so many different topics. He also greatly admires Cereza's critical thinking skills, and how he always seems to be able to figure things out. It's these things that he wishes he had himself, as he's always been considered ditsy and foolish. While on the other hand, Cereza loves Sunstone's sense of humor and how he can always make a tense situation comical and calm things down. Whenever he's in a bad mood, Sunstone always seems to know just what kind of joke to tell or what comment to make to make him feel better and keep his mind off of whatever is bothering him. He also admires his friendliness and ease at making friends, which is something that he's never been good at, no matter how hard he tries to be amicable and inviting.

Sunstone is totally unintimidated by anyone, not even Ender or anyone else that most dragons are afraid to look in the eyes. He sees everyone as equal, and has no problem just going up to others and talking to them, usually cracking jokes and just trying to be amusing. Some of the dragons who aren't as patient with his corny jokes as Cereza is find him obnoxious and annoying and often chalk him up as a lazy, irritating troublemaker. But there are many others that also enjoy his comedy and consider themselves his friend.

Sunstone is currently a lone bachelor, though he tries to appear as if he's totally enjoying his freedom. But in reality, he secretly wishes to have a mate and perhaps hatchlings, just like Cereza. When Cereza was a bachelor as well, the two spent so much time together. Now that Fresa has come into Cereza's life, it's no longer just he and Cereza hanging out and causing trouble. Cereza does still come around and spend time with him, but most of the time he has Fresa with him as the two are inseparable. Though Sunstone enjoys her company as well, he really wants things to go back to normal. Of course he realizes this will never happen, so he ends up on his own now more than before, being a nuisance to the rest of the clan as always.
