A shooting star...

Tavernsong is intrigued by the goings-on in the clan, and doing her best to study the results, though she is currently stuck in the form of a lithe guardian. The skin seems to be absorbing the worst of the Arcane energy, though she is tired and draggy.

Tavernsong has managed to shed her skin and is back to her normal form. She is intrigued to meet the aether—a breed she vaguely recalls being depicted in her old briefs.

Greenskeeper Gathering has released Tavernsong to travel. She has vanished to festivities in the Tangled Wood... or so it seems.

Tavernsong was the member of Cindercone Clan who had most thoroughly embraced the Rogue's Camp, and was an enthusiastic member of their mercenary corps. Rumor held that she had even resumed some of her spying functions at Liglanaerr's behest. As such, she is rather unhappy with the move back to Fire, though trying hard to make the best of it.

There are some in the broader clan—including Liglanaerr and Sprucetip—who know that Tavernsong is a Spook, a primal nocturne capable of taking on the shapes of other kinds of dragons. She does not spread the word of her abilities widely, but several members of the clan have witnessed her in a variety of other shapes—wildclaw, tundra, mirror, and guardian. According to her own tale, Tavernsong is now retired, though no one is certain she remains so now that the clan is in the borderlands of Shadow.

An engaging storyteller and generally level-headed, Tavernsong is well-liked but with a guarded core of secrets.

Physical description
Tavernsong is fairly average in size and proportions. Her only remarkable feature is a short ruff of fleshy spines; indeed, some claim that she shifts proportion slightly over time. She is fast and agile on the ground, though not as aerially adept as most nocturnes. She smells of sand and ozone, faintly underlain by the rich, subtle smell of Shadow. Her other forms share her colors and markings, and tend toward similar proportions.

Combat
A fast, physical fighter, Tavernsong is not quite a top-tier warrior. Nevertheless, she is a better fighter than most of the clan. She relies on a mix of speed, strength, and agility, and is particularly adept at dodging magical attacks. Her patterns of blows are quite flexible, and she will rapidly imitate and toss back any style used against her.

Origin
Tavernsong came to Derecho Canyon during their first Season of Arcane, having previously lived near the Forum of the Obscured Crescent as part of a wealthy Shadow clan. Wherever her origins lie beyond this is unknown, though at some point she produced children in both Wind and Ice.

She has been through several "incarnations" in the course of her imitations. When asked, she will quite readily tell stories of the dragons she has imitated—an imperial, a tundra, a mirror, a wildclaw, and, longest, a guardian. Most of her stories are pleasant, but she confesses to being incredibly relieved to be allowed to remain in her own shape. Despite this, Tavernsong can still whip her guardian-shape around herself—while her guardian-self is not large, the effect is still quite disconcerting. With a little more effort, she can resume tundra, mirror, or wildclaw-shape as well, but has stated, sadly, that once an imperial "skin" is broken, it can no longer be retrieved.

Kin
Tavernsong has said little of her ancestry; but her children were Exalted young, and she bears their likewise-Exalted fathers no more than faint fondness. Like most wild nocturnes, she often refers to Shadowbinder as her Mother, though it is clear that she thinks of herself as a grown-up child of the goddess.

Familiar

Tavernsong has taken it upon herself to tame some of Kaichi's more intractable creatures. This small caterpillar is not much a threat, but has been highly portable through the clan's latest tumultuous time.
