Necromantic Symbol(s): Armor, blades
General Job: Lich and Occluded hunter, Flower's guardian

Many necromancers had managed to get their claws into water dragons, to lure them to the side of Plaguebringer. Algol was simply one of those who had taken to those teachings, and chose to leave his home in search of a new calling.

He had a wealth of magical energy, so much that it surged forth and helped him pass the second trial with ease. But the Trial of Contagion after it didn't go too well for him. However, this seemed to be of little consequence to the imperial as he could still serve the path he wanted to, regardless of that - a holy knight that fought against liches and those who would turn against the necromancers.

For a while, he did this on his own. Eventually, he met up with Flower. Her resilience was incredible - even after he figured out she just couldn't die - but he also knew the Shade would love to try and take someone such as her. He wouldn't and couldn't allow it. It was that day that he joined her entourage, wedging himself into it for what he deemed her own sake. But one day, after a close call with a weaker lich, Algol decided he needed more power to protect. So he applied to join the Stygian Order.

The wait for approval was long, but it eventually came. Flower wanted to come and watch over her companion, but Algol insisted she stay with Grand Watcher Mayu - they lived with the same clan, so she'd be safe in the claws of a higher-ranking councilor and her entourage while he was gone.

Flower would be without her favorite companion for some time. But when he returned, she was filled with joy to see him. Algol was also happy to see his necromancer as well - and proud to announce that he had performed the ritual safely and correctly. The transformation had stuck, and he had been joined the ranks of the maleficar. He could better protect Flower now, of course, but he also served to help both the council and the order by taking on any liches or occluded he came across - all while using information he'd learned during his days as an acolyte.

With no patience for the words of the Shade-touched liches, it was only natural someone like Algol would be suited to also deal with occluded as part of the maleficar branch of the Stygian Order. He takes his work seriously, and takes it upon himself to be Flower's guardian when he isn't actively doing his duties of hunting down and dealing with liches and occluded. No-nonsense at work, he shows a much softer, caring side when off the clock. Flower is both his closest friend and someone he sees much like a sister, and Algol does his best to look after her (and ease the worries of her serthis familiar while he's at it).

Keenly aware of Flower's immortality, he's ever-watchful not just for the shade's influence trying to take her, but that of other council members who wish to take advantage of her. However, there's not much he can do about the latter and it bothers him immensely. There are very few members of the necromantic council he trusts her to be around. Crotalus and Kanu show no desire to manipulate others, simply to stick to and advocate well for their chosen roles; Algol sees neither as potential threats, though also as little help. Sharing space in the same clan as Mayu has let him trust her well, as Algol has seen firsthand that she's a more kindhearted individual. Though he'll be skeptical of them at first, he is willing to put faith in Mayu's allies if need be.
