Resident comfort oc for my schizophrenia. "Sane" would not be a descriptor most people would choose, I reckon. Genuinely a nice person who absolutely would give you his left shoe if you asked.
Literally.
But also refuses to acknowledge he had a life before his psychotic break, and that he was, and always will be, Chocomage. To deny that is to be quite literally removed from his life, as if he took scissors and every case of your existence in his life is cut out and he simply walks around you, barely aware that you're present.
Difficult topic? No, not hearing it.
But more than anything, he wants to be the hero he believes he cannot be without the chocobo mask.
Yes, this is a Hildebrand character. No regrets.

The FFXIV OC Chocomage began as a funny yet stylish glam that no one really noticed the first time I made it. I figured it wasn't as funny as I thought, and removed the glam from my arsenal.
But one day I decided that whether it was funny or not was my decision, and recreated the outfit from memory. It was literally the same outfit, but this time my friends noticed and joined in on the joke.
The joke? To have fun with stories like Don Quixote, the Three Musketeers, and Zoro, combining the three conceptually with an rdm-based glam.
As you can imagine, Chocomage was born gradually and unintentionally from this. In fact, early on I tried to keep myself from developing the character, as it was intended to just be a funny glam.
But sometimes characters won't let you not create them, and before I knew it, he had an entire lore concept and eventually became one of my more fleshed out OCs.
When I finally started Hildebrand in Endwalker, I realized very quickly that my main, Konoe, wouldn't want anything to do with the man and would be embarrassed to be in his company. Chocomage, on the other hand, would likely result in Hildebrand enabling Chocomage, and Chocomage enabling Hildebrand, endlessly with Gilgamesh occasionally joining in and pushing all three of them into further insanity. The two were very different, but their forms of madness hit each other in just the right spots to send both of them to the moon.
One day, I will finish Hildebrand. Just for Chocomage.
