Biography

Feonix, Blade of the Dawn
~Envoy of Dawn - the First Reocailura~
Scribe | Guide | Intermediary

They brought me into this clan because of a superficial resemblance to their patron, the Reocailura.
I came because I did not want to be an engineer in the Stormcatcher's service.
I had no idea it'd turn out like this.

Fearless

Rumor has it, the whole clan went into an uproar when they first saw me, listed amongst the dragons looking for a new home. Geneva herself came to collect me, a bizarre look of pride and wonder on her face that I have never seen her give another dragon. The small crowd of dragons that had come with her - a jungle imperial with shimmering red wings, a midnight Tundra adorned in aqua holding a small leather bound notebook, a dark Wildclaw wearing a fedora and armor, a minute golden Fae, and several others - hung back to watch our exchange with interest.

"You're the Reocailura," Geneva stated, reverent.
"I'm the what?" I practically squawked back.
"The Reocailura," she repeated, her words ringing with an odd power, "bearing the colors of our clan banner, they shall come to unite us in our time of need." Here she grimaced. "Of course, you're not quite the colors we were looking for, but the Lightning element is promising."

I squinted at her, liking this even less by the minute. "So I'm supposed to be- some kind of figurehead peacekeeper?" -
for some crackpot clan I've never heard of, I added mentally. No one wants to be beholden to a clan of loonies.

Geneva laughed. "Something like that. We really did predict your coming - well, Marcus Aquarius did. You'll meet him later. But it really shouldn't entail anything more than showing up to clan meetings, which most of the clan members do anyways. You can spend the rest of your time doing whatever you wish around the island. Our library is quite expansive, and there are numerous dragons that would be pleased to teach you in everything from music to painting to war."

Despite her bizarre introduction, I felt myself wavering. It sounded idyllic - maybe a little too idyllic - but I had always been entranced by the ocean, and there was a high chance of being exalted should I stick around the Shifting Expanse. As much as I respect the Stormcatcher, I didn't want to spend the rest of my life filling out spreadsheets. I took one last glance around my birthplace, letting out a quiet hum of acceptance. "Fine, I'll go."

Once we had squared away all the paperwork and I had said farewell fo my parents, Geneva and the rest of the dragons took to the sky in a V-shaped formation. To my surprise, I was allowed to fly to at Geneva's right claw while she took point.

"So this library of yours - does it have any fantasy books?" I asked, eliciting a chuckle from the stately Guardian. "You have no idea."

The island is beautiful, all grassy fields, crumbling ruins, and expansive forests, bathed in the golden sun of the Lightweaver's lands. I immediately fell in love with the land, and most of the clan for all their weird quirks and earnest oddity.
And yet... It seems some credence must be leant to The Reocailura Prophecy. I can feel them taking root in my mind, the echoes of a life not quite my own, creeping and unspiralling in my dreams while I sleep. A girl who shares my name, in the form of a yellow mouse, that made the ultimate sacrifice more than once to save a world not her own. A coming darkness, his fate entwined with mine, whom I shall trust with my life.
Despite these peculiar visions, I am still very much my own dragon. I remember clearly my childhood growing up in the desert and my life here on the Island. These dreams of phantom universes appear to be nothing more than just that, dreams; though perhaps with more than the usual grain of truth. But one picture has stayed clear in my mind despite these reassurances - a strange bipedal creature, hunched over a glowing screen, weaving all our fates in their claws.

Feonix is meant to be an intermediary between the Sunchasers and the Corruption, a figurehead to rally dragons to Geneva's cause, or a spokes-dragon for Clan Reocailura's titular guiding spirit, depending on who you ask.

In practice, she is responsible for introducing anyone who joins Clan Reocailura to its members and internal power struggle, as well as showing them around the island. There are very few areas she is unfamiliar with. Due to her unique status (or, as she mutters to herself on off days "the complete lunacy of everyone around here"), she can walk anywhere without fear of being accosted. Essentially, Feonix is the in-clan guide and impartial judge; not to be confused with Rosen, who is in charge of all surface and external clan interactions.

Chosen due to her surface resemblance to our patron, the Reocailura. The truth is, she's much nicer, and so much more. The predictions made at her birth stated that she will bring peace to the warring factions within the clan, a heavy burden to be sure, but one we believe she can carry.

Her apparel is composed of gifts from the different factions - simple gold jewelry from the Sunchasers and feathers and beads from the Corrupted Uprising - in order to gain her favor. Feonix just sighs or looks consternated. It's not like she can really influence the clan's patron, she's just a reflection of an aspect of their personality. The only gifts she's been truly ecstatic over are the alchemical flubber-like familiars that she describes as "adewable". Officially, she only accepted them as the gifts could not be interpreted as favoring either side, given the equal representation of both the Sunchasers and the Corruption amongst the clan's alchemists.

For a long time, Feonix shadowed Geneva's every step, recording clan happenings and publishing them to the mysterious Tumblr. Truthfully, she had a little trouble copying things down verbatim, but she's really prefer that particular shortcoming to not get out. The position became unnecessary, as the Corruption's accusations of fraud on the Matriarch's part have petered out. While Feonix still loves taking down the clan's stories, she is now training to take up the position of team healer, alongside her brother Rollo and the dubious Patriot.

There may come a time when a new, neutral faction forms in the clan: one that does not align with either the Sunchasers or the Corruption, and refuses to follow either Geneva or the Visionary, but only time will tell.
