"No one really knows who Winterdawn is. Some Say she's an assassin, who hides her bodies in the mushroom cave. Makes sense, since the mushrooms are parasitic.
Others just think she's a maid, as she never leaves a place dirty. Either way, dragons steer away from her, including her own children. She doesn't mind that. Or maybe she does? No one knows what goes on under that hood."

STORY
Driven by restlessness, her goal is to bury her past.

Caelyn wrote: 'Mushrooms from the North
You’d think two dragons so passionately invested in mushrooms would get along. Not so, with Winterdawn and Ambrosia. While Winterdawn refuses to speak to most dragons, she never fails to curb her sharp tongue from lashing into Ambrosia’s back. The pearlcatcher adores various fungi as the emissaries of the earth; Winterdawn thinks that’s stupid. She favors the harsh species that thrive in the cold lands—the kind that pick an elk carcass cleanly to the bone, the same way she plucks every speck of dirt from her quarters free.
She is enigmatic, and most dragons agree that there is something not quite right about her. Perhaps she suffers a mental compulsion toward cleanliness. Or perhaps she’s spent too much time among those lichen that their spores have addled her.
Others believe that she used to be an assassin, but that time is past. She’s probably at this clan because she’s on the run. And since she’s being watched so closely by everyone—in part to make sure she never accidentally drops a fungi jar—surely she wouldn’t slay anyone…
Despite these rumors, some wish to become her friend. Maids traditionally serve a role as nurturers or, at the very least, an informal network of gossip. Winterdawn has no time for this. She cares only for professionalism, and the tiny glass terrariums that line her windowsill, each boasting a small patch of blanched parasite.

Brainstorming: Of her brothers and sisters, and parents, only one brother survives. The rest of her family are all identical, or nearly so, and clearly her parents were breeding for some kind of percieved perfection. What if Winterdawn tried to poison her entire family, including herself, realizing them as a blight upon Sornieth- even herself- but couldn't bring herself to touch her kind, innocent eldest brother Hisoki, and ended up taking the antidote because she was determined that he survive. It's the only time she's failed in a mark. She helped him escape, hid him away in a safe place with a new identity, then triedand dedicated herself to ridding the world of what she considers 'bad people'.
She has had a string of lovers, but only a few of her offspring still live, the rest having dedicated themselves to various deities long after she'd left their lairs. Her favourite son is Zeus, who is as calm and professional and dedicated to his work as she.
She worked as an assassin for hire in multiple clans, going 'undercover' in order to administer apparently natural-cause death to the desired targets. She used poisons, weapons that barely left a mark, needle-thin blades and claws sharpened to a knife's edge. She knew how to snap a neck before the victim even knew they were caught, and she once killed a Snapper with her bare hands. Or that's the rumour. Maybe she really was just a maidservant, an extremely efficient one, with very bad luck. It is impossible to tell, and Winterdawn isn't the sort to gossip.
