The word most suitable for Æja is undoubtedly steady, for he embodies the unmoving might of the behemoth trees that have persisted since this world was young. He is a constant, a shelter from the storm, and a bright spot amongst the icy darkness he now lives in.

Being a Rebirth dragon amongst Mourning Flowers is not an easy thing, but Æja has taken on the challenge with remarkable grace and patience. His dedication and determination undeniably falls into the category of admirable, for the Flowers are complicated and wily, prone to disappearing in a flash and refusing to connect. They are creatures of death and darkness, no matter their good intentions, and it shows. Only the patient and mad thrive alongside them, some say, and perhaps Æja is both.

Perhaps he is neither, merely fortunate enough to have the qualities needed to blend in with the darkest among them.

Æja remembers soft light and a comforting smile, gentle whispers filling a silence full of warmth. There had been a lazy contentment, the kind that made one's heart swell and saw smiles blooming on every face, and he had been so acutely aware of the joy that oozed from the moment.

This was what it meant to be happy, he had thought, and snuggled up closer to the sturdy, warm bodies of his parents. A slice of life, a moment cherished— a treasured memory tucked away behind his ribs.

It warms his heart as he is escorted towards the gaping maw of the Mourning Flowers' most sacred place— the Darkened Caves. His new home. The biting winds of the Icefields yank and tear at his coat, the chill sinking into his very bones, but Æja is not frightened. Many dragons might think of this as a punishment, a curse; to be sent to live in a land where the ground never thaws and the sun rarely shines. It is not. To Æja, this is an opportunity, an honour few could appreciate.

And yes, it is a massive change, a shock to his system that has yet to settle. The Icefields is nothing like the vibrant, lush forests he was born in, and Æja knows it will take time to acclimatize. Yet the tall, spindly trees around them that reach for the cloudy skies whisper to him, a curious welcome from the very land itself.

Æja is loved, here, and he as only just arrived.
