Scrape was originally a lone dragon, wandering the Arcane territories without much reason. He’d found Hyperion and began traveling with him, long enough to gain both the trust and affection of the other. Despite his soft and sweet personality, a lot of dragons see him as weird, as he has no interest in having eggs of his own, yet he takes in other dragons’ eggs if they can’t take care of them. He did this with Ocean’s egg.
