Uh-oh, looks like this horrifically unlucky abomination wandered a little too far from his home lair Adrasci #568260, and now he's off to see the world! Who is Runic? What is he doing here? This strange man seems to bring havoc where ever he goes, to whomever he meets. With Cataclysm, he caused them to fall into someone's bag during a trade. With Uriel, his pearl staff discharged perfectly to create a small statue of himself out of darkness, decay, and permafrost. Arcanist would be proud of this man's capability of screwing things up in the perfect, most nonsensical ways possible.



Well no story is perfect without a bit of backstory, so let's get to that shall we? His parents are a pair of regal folk, a Ridgeback and a Nocturne decked in noble attire. And then Runic fell into the Backrooms. No, not really. He just got really, REALLY lost and thought that he did.

Even worse, his path makes absolutely no sense. He started out in the Turrets of Goldensparc, in his regal and factorial glory. Then he made a mad dash into the Sundial Terrace, before his hatchling-like form fell into a mail-delivering Imperial's satchel. On his way to Cloudsong to transport Mistral Jamboree supplies, the Imperial's packages got snatched by a crew of Aethers who stole all the scrolls! One particular Aether, named Crow, took one look at the hatchling she had picked up and immediately sold him in the Trading Post, where he was bought by an army of icy Sandsurges.

Now within the Snowsquall Tundra, the young Ridgeback was trained by the Sandsurges despite his... *ahem* peculiar morphology, raised to help combat a young and developing Hivemind. Unfortunately, a particularly powerful hailstorm formed by the eventual combat left Runic disoriented, and he ran as fast as his developing body could until he passed out from the cold.

Runic woke up in the Starwood Strand, surrounded by identical starry Veilspun who swarmed in spirally synchronization as they held up crystalline torches against the darkness of the woods. He watched, enthralled by the perfect rhythm of their beating wings against the song of the gentle breeze.. And then one of the Veilspun dropped to the ground, trailing evaporating light as they fell limp. The other Veilspun fly directly towards a white-eyed silhouette, and Runic turned away as he sought out an exit to this moonlit forest.

A long stride weakened the Ridgeback, and he crawled against the ground as his vision felt just a bit fainter with every couple of steps. Darkness stretched over his sight as he gazed into a pink desert, unable to find any source of civilization. Suddenly, a faint scent struck him in the face, and Runic glanced over to see its source. A Fae and a drone-like machine exchanged glimmering trinkets and juicy, plump masses of food. This must be it. He approaches, and as the Fae hands over a trinket they fell into the machine's bag. Runic steps forward, the machine glancing at his stomach before meeting his gaze.

"I see you have a need for this. Come along, Ridgeback."

And that's how Runic had came here. It is so stupid. But we're only getting started.
