Design and lore notes:
  • Zelda was once the princess of Hyrule - an ancient kingdom in the same world as Sornieth, although located on a continent far from the lands of the eleven flights. Despite her royal upbringing, she prefers a down-to-earth life as a researcher and schoolteacher, living in a quiet village with her partner Link, a warrior who once helped her save their land.
  • Although she's a nature dragon, her innate magical powers appear to be of the light element. This discrepancy, and the difficulty she experienced accessing her powers in the first place, is because they actually come from a mysterious triangular artifact, existing outside of the eleven elements.
  • After awakening her powers and battling the great Calamity for a century before finally sealing it away, her body was left weakened and her wings burned by magical energy from the conflict. Undeterred, she built augments for her shortened wings, and set off to discover how the world had changed while she was gone. (this is my version of her getting a haircut, and also explains how she was able to fall into a chasm as a dragon - unfortunately the augments don't work too well underground.)
  • Her runes manifest as a result of contact with ancient technology, with which she has been fascinated since a hatchling; they are constantly shifting like flowing water, but fade when far from ancient energy. Translated, the main repeated phrase reads "protect everyone".
