Sightless

Sightless (formally Ruse) was raised among the twisted thorns and inky darkness of the Tangled wood, however he always harboured a secret disdain for the rascality of The Shadowbinders teachings.
Eventually leaving his homeland, learning of The Lightweaver and becoming entrenched in her school of thought.
Sightless' academic memory is rather poor and his understanding of nuance is inept at best, however he hoards artefacts and texts relating to the light flight and philosophy that he only is able to read to a surface level.
Self-critical and at times self loathing, Sightless has shed his birth name and often imposes acts of 'atonement' on himself for the years he spent within the ranks of The Shadowbinder. His longest running attempt of retribution involves covering his eyes, the last remaining connection to his birthclan.
Due to a strong sense of smell, hearing and a primitive form of self-taught echolocation, Sightless is able to make his way through the caverns without the aid of his vision but at a slower and more clumsy pace.
It is unknown whether he removes the coverings in private to read, or if he has given up attempting to understand the scrolls completely.
Kelpie uses Sightless' years of devotion to the light and his background knowledge of the shadow flight as a sort of relations adviser or figurehead in dealings with other clans, not to mention his collections make a fine addition to the clan hoard.
Sightless insists that once he reaches the level of enlightenment to deserve a place under The Lightweaver's rule, he will leave the clan and begin his journey to seek his fate in the Sunbeam ruins. Kelpie however, knows he will never live up to his own expectations due to his constant rising of the bar with each breakthrough. She also knows how to encourage him to expect more from himself, or remind him of his continued struggles with his own natural disadvantages to his chosen path whenever he becomes too close to realising the truth of his self-imposed image.
Sightless looks down upon other clan members that hail from shadow and embrace their unique skills for the benefit of themselves and others without guilt, such as Aurvandil and Hecate.
