Carabiner was once a normal mage, but after encountering an eldritch tome she became obsessed with seeking more and more power, in hopes of being able to put an end to the beast within that tome...
What was once a noble goal of destroying the creature has become something far darker, the eldritch being has corrupted her mind and she has long since forgotten why she wanted all that power... After learning about The Fateweaver and the powers her children posses Carabiner wanted those powers for herself. So she traveled to the misty forest that The Fateweaver calls home and yelled: "Fateweaver! Hear me and obey! I Demand your presence before me now!" "Hm... a mere mortal speaks to me with such a tone? I can not tell if you are courageous, arrogant, or simply foolish... Whatever it may be, you have piqued my curiosity so i shall humor you for now." "I seek your power, Fateweaver. Tell me how you control the mists!" "Ah, so you are foolish then. You believe that one can simply be taught how to use my powers? and if it could be taught what makes you think that i would teach anyone with an attitude like yours?... ...But, perhaps we can reach an agreement?" "What do you mean?" "My family is so very important to me... And it would seem that one of my grandsons has developed quite an affection for you..." "y- you dont mean.." "Come, why don't you go an meet him..." And it was only at that moment did Carabiner realizes that she was already lost in the mist, the only way forward was the way The Fateweaver had cleared for her. Knowing that she was trapped, she begrudgingly followed The Fateweaver to her den... But was The Fateweaver afraid of what that eldritch being would do to Carabiner? or to her own family? Of course not. Because she knew that it was fake. It was simply a normal book infused with a paranoia curse. And how did she know this? Because The Fateweaver was the one who planted That tome in the ruins where Carabiner would find it... Perhaps the true reason why The Fateweaver would go through all this trouble to find a suitable mate for her son, But what can be said is that everything certainly went to plan... |
