P E R S O N A L I T Y
Hikaru is, first and foremost, a professional. That’s what he was; that’s what he longs to be again. A professional. The clothes of his old job are almost sacred - even now, in his strange new job at the IT Help Desk, Hikaru likes to wear his old hat and jacket as much as possible.

His appearance is flashy, his rifle intimidating, but - he knows that, and walks with his head held high, his smile gentle and knowing. Hikaru is both cool, and aware of it; he never has to try to be popular, never has to say he’s a hunter or a knight (or, at least, that he was). All he has to do is wear the clothes, and everyone will assume.

Generally speaking, Hikaru is a character others come to for support, and that makes a lot of sense, given both his previous and current occupation. When dealing with some horrible beast, the emotional side of support is just as important as physical; Hikaru provides a shoulder others can lean on, and he listens carefully to what he’s told. He might not have the answers, and he rarely takes sides, but he understands that an answer’s not always needed, when you’re comforting someone over a computer crash and a piece of very valuable unsaved furry art.

But on the inside, he’s absolutely melting, burning up.

His egg was... misplaced. Taken. Hikaru grew up surrounded by humans, and yearned to be just like them.

A dragon came, one day, and took Hikaru into his own lair. And it was there that Erai realized Hikaru was not orange, and his wings were the wrong colour, and - he hadn't been sold a Charizard at all, he'd been sold a Hikaru. Scammed, shouted Erai, and Hikaru was rather ungracefully delivered into the Order's hands - to be raised as a human, but never taught to read or question.

That was how he grew up, then. Hikaru ended up with plenty of street smarts, and could recite endless monster facts, and looked so, so cool in his nice, professional monster hunter outfit. And he found himself desperate to move past that; he wanted to be considered intelligent. Because, you know, humans are intelligent. It’s the difference between men and monsters.

Unfortunately for the Order, Halo exists, and online play exists, and teabagging exists. And that was how Hikaru came to meet Taki, unintelligent bastion of mankind that Taki was. And that was how Taki pulled Hikaru away from the Order; convinced him to quit, because the Order was limiting Hikaru's video game time. Got him a job, with Red Sky Media. A nice, boring tech support job, where nothing could ever go wrong again.

Until - of course - Hikaru got bored.
