Windflowers are a group of dragons that have made their home high in the Reedcleft. Though well-known to the inhabitants of the Cloudsong, as Windflowers love to loop and twirl around the cheery platforms of great floating array, they are hardly known by those who live in the Steppes. Feeding on the rare plants that grow atop these peaks, combined with the profusion of sunshine and elemental energy swirling through the region, has given them incomparably bright plumage that makes them impossible to mistake.

Windflowers are exceptionally joyful, spending their days revelling in the simplest delights that come with being dragons of Wind--flight and play. If one were to sit down on in a comfortable chair on one of the Cloudsong's decks facing the Ascent, one could observe pairs of the dragons in the distance, amusing themselves with tracing loops in the air over and over again, day after day, with seemingly no greater worries. Of course, that's assuming the Windflowers aren't paying the Cloudsong a visit. They love the bright kites of the Song, and there's nothing they love more dearly than the grand figurehead of the Windsinger himself.

When watching them fly with such abandon and delight, it's difficult not to believe the popular conception that they, more than any of the Windsinger's other children, represent the Windsinger's joy in living in this world.

As bright as they are, it usually isn't difficult to spot the Windflowers coming. But their presence is also accompanied by the high-pitched chittering and whistling that makes up their unique language. The latter bears certain striking similarities to the Coatl native tongue, and for good reason. It would appear that at some point the Coatls migrating from the Ashwall Waste found their way to the heights of the Reedcleft Ascent, where they were welcomed with open hearts. Surrounded by gusting winds, the native inhabitants of this highest portion of the Ascent had long had their own tradition of whistling language, as whistles carried far more clearly through the gale than spoken words. Traditions merged and evolved as the new neighbours became an integral part of the community, giving rise to the Windflowers' unique combination of clicks and whistles today.
