From the time of his hatching, Carnivore has been strong. He was far larger than his nestmates, certainly having inherited his mother's powerful size. Thus, he took it upon himself to be that of a defender for his siblings and eventually his clanmates.

When Carnivore came looking for a home to call his own, it was by chance that he found Clan Arkwright. They were small, fractured and weakened from some inner conflict that occurred before Carnivore's arrival. Many were hungry and defenseless. There was no way that Carnivore could leave; he would stay and protect these dragons with everything he had.

In those early days, it was a real uphill battle. Carnivore fought and fought, chasing away threats from Beastclan while trying to provide food and shelter. Every day, the clan got a little stronger, but so too did the threats that faced them. It was as if they just couldn't keep up.

This, admittedly, is why Carnivore may have been much more willing to be Icarus' first test subject within the clan. If he could just be stronger, then everything would be alright. If he didn't have to feel fatigue or pain, then he could keep going well beyond his natural limits....
