"Thank the deities you're here, Partner!"

A refined gold and green imperial looks up from counting a meager amount of gems with an overwhelmed expression upon his countenance. He smooths his tail-coat down with massive paws-- which then reach up and delicately adjust the glasses upon his already-monocled snout.

"The look on yer' face tells me all I need to know. Them creatures been up to no-good I tell ya! One of them’s made a comfy home for itself inside the town's vault! What with this sandstorm, this is the worst time to have a stowaway in the vault. The townsfolk keep comin’ to withdraw some of their savin’s to start paying for all the repairs needed from storm damage, an’ I can’t even access it!"

He gestures to the grand vault door behind him, slightly ajar. One can see the twinkling of treasure and gems within the vault, but only hear excited chirps and trills of the creature who has made their new home inside.

"Will ya lend me a claw, partner?"

After about an hour, you finally find a prize that’s good enough to distract the little troublemaker while you scoop it up faster than it can realize what has happened. Over its squawking cries of protest, Atticus says

“Well that’s one headache down! Who knew when I moved here to get away from the hustle of city, I’d immediately get hustled by a lil’ critter! Thanks fer yer help, I don’t know what I would’ve done. I don’t know about that Nel, I heard he was a thief ‘round here last year, so I don’t want him near the vault. Not to mention the town itself being pretty strapped for cash for civic events and services, I heard they’re lookin’ into accepting donations in exchange for a token from the town.”
