Hope

Where once was a lively clan filled with dragons, now stands a ghost town. A group of explorers travels through the empty streets, some more excited to have found it than others. “We should check the lairs!”, one exclaims. “What if it’s haunted?”, another one murmurs. “It’s best if we leave everything be, we do not want to disturb the dead.”, the leader of the group replies. Which would be a great decision, if coming here wasn’t a very bad idea already.

For you see, the moment that this group of explorers entered the clan, they sealed their fate. Because this is no ghost town, these are hunting grounds. And the hunter has noticed them entering. She watches the group for a while, before beginning the hunt. With a swift movement of her claw, she summons a gust of wind that blows the map out of the leader’s claws, sending the group scrambling after it. She lets them chase the map for just long enough, before letting the wind die down and allowing them to pick it up.

But as they pick up the map, the huntress summons the mist, and the group has no landmarks to go off. They are now lost. The group tries for a while to find their way back, but the huntress makes sure that all landmarks look unrecognizable with her magic, and so, after a while, the group starts to unravel.

One explorer starts to air their grievances. Only quietly, but loud enough for the others to hear. Another explorer agrees, and another one disagrees. It doesn’t take long for the entire group to start yelling at each other, with the leader being unable to keep things under control. The huntress can see the leader staring at the group, trying his hardest to fix things, and knows it’s time to go in for the kill.

With another huff of magic, she whispers into his ears, and watches as all hell breaks loose.
