Felix has been fascinated by various aspects of alchemy and chemistry for a long time. She started small, just mixing some minor things together and seeing what happened and noting down her observations, but eventually it grew into an obsession. She kept putting more and more things together until one day there was a huge explosion that rocked the out-of-the-way cavern she used for her experiments and it scoured away the soft seafoam colors she had into something she viewed as horrific. She tried to stay out of the reach of her fellow clan content that she would die for her mistakes, but, unfortunately (or fortunately for her) the explosion drew the attention of a few members of the clan and they scoured the caverns until they found her hiding behind one of the rockfalls created by the explosion.

She was bundled up and rushed to the clan infirmary where it took Lodestar, Lilac, and Willow to properly see to her healing. They saved Felix's life, but unfortunately the changes to her appearance were permanent. Humiliated, Felix covered herself with apparel designed to hide her scarred appearance though it didn't stop her from eventually going back to her experiments albeit in a more controlled, protected atmosphere than what she once used.

After the attack of the Shadow Hunters at the Autumn Equinox, Felix turned her attention to trying to perfect chemically-based defenses so that maybe there wouldn't be quite so many lost. She is still trying to convince Kinya to allow her to place the ones that she's put together, but the clan leader (understandably) wants a few more tests before it's put somewhere that other members of the clan may accidentally stumble into and trigger.
