Biography
For as long as she could remember, The Seamstress was named Star.
She had no life at first, but she would recall this time fondly; serving as a comfort and inanimate friend to the young wizard, Astralla. But this inanimate status would not last long, as Star found herself with a new sense of purpose shortly after Astralla was expelled from the academy.
Star would fast become Astralla's most beloved familiar, barely spending a minute away from her dear wizard. Day in and day out, the two were inseparable - and it was this bond that led Astralla to seek further companionship amidst their familiars. Though no matter how many objects they animated into new friends, none would replace their dearest Star.
Upon their deathbed, peacefully holding Star's tiny paw in their own, Astralla bequeathed their tower, magic, and the mantle of Agate Wizard to Star. Star took a fragment of Astralla's crystal staff into herself, sewing it deep within her chest so that she would never again be inanimate.
Despite this honor, with her oldest friend gone, Star couldn't help but feel the loneliness creep in. The lesser familiars of the tower still looked to her for guidance; but very few were made to have her sense of intelligence and wit. With the wisdom and comfort of Mosaic, one such familiar made of painted canvas, Star shed her name in favor of taking up a title instead: The Seamstress.
Just as Astralla before her struggled, so too, did the Seamstress. She had to teach herself to animate objects, and how to cut, and sew, and hem the clothes left in Astralla's wardrobe. But she was determined to not be alone, crafting bodies similar to her own that she would eventually come to animate.
In time, The Seamstress would populate the Agate Tower with familiars of her own- bestowing upon them forms and traits she researched within the nibbled books of Astralla's library. She made friends, family, and even colleagues to suit her needs, until they could outgrow her spell's compulsion to serve her.
As the decades passed and the Agate Tower was changed to suit the plush familiars' needs, The Seamstress found herself thinking fondly back upon the life and haven she had made for herself. She was well-aged now, especially for one of her ilk, with seams stretched and fabric worn... But she was happy.
Is this what Astralla had felt, she wondered, when they were at peace with their passing?
Perhaps it is. But until The Seamstress finds another to pass on her mantle as Wizard to, she is determined to continue serving her handmade family.
