Nile

Nile has a humble business. He cleans rugs. All kinds of rugs, big or small, short or shaggy, rectangular or round. He will clean them, and make them look as good as new. It’s not glamorous, but he enjoys the work and the happiness of the rug’s owners when they come to pick up their newly cleaned rug.

One day though, a dragon from outside of the clan comes into his shop. The dragon looks a little off to Nile, though he can’t really seem to place why. Doesn’t matter though, as this dragon has traveled to the clan especially for Nile and his services. “My family has owned this rug for three generations, and it’s obviously very dirty and dusty. I tried everything, but I can’t get it cleaner than this.”, the traveler explains. “The clan I live in doesn’t have a rug cleaner, so I traveled to you, as you’re the closest one. Do you think you can help me?”

Nile takes a look at the rug. It’s wonderful, and it’s immediately obvious that it’s old. The patterns and weaving it has aren’t really used in modern times anymore. But underneath the grime and dust is most certainly a vibrant and high quality rug. And Nile can most certainly bring it back to life. The customer thanks him profusely, before telling him in what herberg they are staying and paying Nile ahead of the cleaning.

Nile gets to work immediately, he busts out the dust of the rug, and there’s a lot of dust coming out of it. The rug is surprisingly light after the procedure. It feels a bit too light, even. Though it might just be age. Nile places the rug on the ground and starts getting water, ready to give it a good scrubbing.

And then, as soon as the soapy water hits the rug, the rug flutters away from him.
