DEATH paused, blinking towards the tiny light. It was flickering near his ears, and he attempted to swat it with his talons. "W-what?" TUNNEL looked at it with a shrug. "It just... suddenly appeared when I lit the candle you gifted me." The tiny humanoid winged creature landed on the pearlcatcher's shoulder, encrusted with fungi. "ACK! Get it off!" Death stumbled back, swinging his arms and flapping his wings wildy. With his tail, TUNNEL shoved aside a log that nearly caused his clanmate to trip. "Calm down! it's not doing anything." The fairy just continued to fly around the dragons' heads. Death glared at it. "Are these native to the Arcane region?" He pondered out loud. "Dunno." The auraboa left his talon outstretched, so the tiny creature could land on it. "I've never seen anything like it before." "Anddd... it just somehow appeared. Magically." "Uh-huh. Like I said, when I lit the candle." "Hey, maybe it doesn't have a definite form, like us." Death wondered, marching up to the fairy balancing on Tunnel's claw. "HELLO. ARE YOU A SHAPESHIFTER TOO?" He shouted. |

The fairy cowered as its wings drooped, shaking slightly. "Quit it ,you're freaking it out." Tunnel hissed. "Well, my bad." The creature fluttered around again, weaving through the branches of the Starwood strand, before landing back on the top of Death's mane. The pearlcatcher glared up at it. "What do we do?" "What do you mean?" Tunnel asked. "Like-- we might've created a creature that Sorneith never seen before. Could we get in trouble with the Arcanist or something like that?" "Clans do weird stuff all the time, I doubt the Arcanist would even care." Tunnel shrugs. "I thought deities were the only ones allowed to create... life!" "We just did. And nothing's happened." The snake-like dragon thought for a moment before speaking up again. "Actually, we don't even know if we "created" it per say. It might have already existed and we could've just summoned it, maybe? If that makes sense." Death gave a deadpan stare, his crown made of animal bones drooping to eye-level. "Nothing involving magic makes sense, Tunnel." "True." "We don't even make sense. That's why we're HIDING away from the rest of clans, so they don't hunt us down for being weird." "Weird is a compliment." Grinned the auraboa. "For you maybe, but if someone finds out we're basically immortal, someone's gonna get mad." "You don't know that." "Tunnel, I don't think we, as "shapeshifters," are supposed to exist." They froze. "We're fiction amongst dragons, we are only pretending to be dragons!!" Death's voice now escalated to a yell. "Well, yeah, but we're safe even near The Observatory. Nothing's bad happened to us yet." "Other dragons are going to start wondering how these tiny... uhh fairy-looking creatures are suddenly showing up. And they're going to find us out." "That's not for certain." "Oh yeah? Well, I bet I could just ask CENTER and her fortune-telling powers. She'll KNOW whether or not we're screwed because of..." Death thrust a finger at the fairy, who was now seated on a tree trunk. "This thing." Tunnel sighed. "Sure. If that'll ease your mind. But I'm sure everything is fine." They placed a comforting wing on their clanmate, now offering a lopsided grin. "We'll be fine." |
