Biography
This delicate amber artifact is on display in a little alcove, where it's hung carefully with strong wire. The long-ago unfortunate Fae, preserved for an age in the sap of a long-dead tree, was discovered by dragons battling in the Scorched Forest. The temple's caretakers carefully chiseled away the extraneous amber and then polished the Fae's figure to a shine.
Some may say it's morbid to keep the remains of a once-living dragon inside the temple, but the Saint doesn't seem to mind being elevated from interesting artifact to revered relic. In the autumn and winter, visitors light sticks of incense and tuck them into the base of the alcove around the Saint, making the amber glow invitingly and the Saint's shining orange eyes light up with the reflected embers.
In the spring and summer, during their migration season, Sapphire Sapsucker butterflies will often wander into the temple and alight on this Saint, seeming to mistake its amber surface for live tree sap. For the duration of their migration, the temple's caretakers will anoint the statue each day with fresh sap across its shoulders to feed the confused travelers, and incense is foregone to prevent any irritation of their delicate senses.
