Patterns on body and wings light up while doing so, and appear to change colour depending on durability, with red indicating a necessity for repair.

Um, Operator #605 here. NOVAE’s AIS (Artificial Intelligence System) has, lately, been rather odd in function. Sometimes it just crashes completely, or refuses to give us a response. Connection failures have been frequent, and we’ve picked up on transmission attempts from systems. The messages have been jumbled so far, a mess of undecipherable ciphers. But with the recent loss of CHARYBDIS, loss of contact with our informant in the Rift and… recent events, we have reason to believe this is more than just coincidence.

A storm’s been brewing lately. Offshore. I can see the clouds gathering over the sea when I look out my office windows. I don’t know if they’re meant to be that dark, or if the lightning’s supposed to strike so much, but some of our team have proposed we evacuate. The engineers are getting worried- Command’s not sending word back, but I tell you, when we get that notice… I’m out of here first. We can’t find NOVAE’s vessel. The engineers checked its pod this morning, and the thing was missing. Said there was sea water over the containment room floor, teeth marks lining the holes in the walls. Maybe Boss’ll know what caused them, but… honestly, I don’t want to know what happened. I might just be paranoid. But I think we’ve been messing with forces we don’t understand for far too long.
I swear to the Mother, when I last looked out at the storm, it had eyes. And they were looking right at us.
