From the moment she hatched, it was obvious that Sylvia was always going to stick out from other dragons.

For one thing, she was... small. Too small. The other hatchlings quickly dwarfed her in size over the first few weeks of their lives, and Sylvia's body just did not grow at the same rate. In fact, it wasn't long before her physical growth stagnated, then came to a halt altogether. Unfortunately, though, there was a more pressing concern...

She couldn't walk.

To be more specific, she was paralyzed in her hind legs. This seemed to be something she was born with- no matter how much the clan's medics examined her, they could find no evidence of an injury or sickness that could have caused the disability. It left them baffled for a while, wondering if her egg wasn't incubated enough. Perhaps it was jostled too much. Maybe it fell on its side for too long at some point. After a few days of tirelessly searching for an answer, the conclusion was came to that there was no answer to be found. She was this way because she was- simple as that.

Sylvia, despite the concern of the adults around her, didn't really seem to care much. Most of the time, she would use her front legs and wings to drag herself forward, letting her hind legs trail behind, which worked just fine for her. In the rare moments that she was able to stand normally, her limbs shook violently until she allowed herself to sit. Even taking a few steps proved to be too difficult for her, and she didn't seem to care much about trying.
