Biography

Named after Félicette, the first cat to have been launched into space.

Félicette, also known as "Astrocat," was the first cat to be sent into space by France in 1963. She was part of a French space mission called "C 151," launched on October 18, 1963, aboard a Véronique AG1 rocket from the Hammaguir test range in Algeria. Félicette's flight lasted approximately 15 minutes, during which electrodes implanted in her brain sent data back to researchers on Earth.
