Helget is a rather studious dragon, always seeking new things to learn. He spent most of his life focused on gaining knowledge rather than interacting with other dragons, even family members. Eventually he felt that what was left for him to discover was limited, so he turned towards more dangerous subjects to study. Due to his lack of connection with other dragons, their cautioning fell on deaf ears. Helget found tomes detailing the dark arts, and in the pursuit of knowledge, performed a ritual to harness its power by plucking one of his own feathers and placing it in a magic circle.

Helget was well aware that performing the act would place a curse upon him, but he didn’t know what exactly, because not a soul in Sornieth knew either. When they recited the final chant, a dark energy emerged from the circle and engulfed their entire body. They experienced a pain they’d never felt before, as if darkness was consuming them. Just as soon as it began, it was over, and the dark energy was absorbed into Helget’s cabochon. They are now capable of using dark magic, and they choose to utilize its power for the good of their clan. However, they are now forever plagued with shadowy illusions, sensations of darkness in his antennae, and nightmares that fill him with fear and bring him pain, now familiar to them as the pain they experienced when they were first imbued with the darkness.
