Mae and her sister Calon were raised in the Carrion Canyon by their mother, Amary. They were taught at an early age how to truly live up to their title as Guardians and carry on the legacies of Vitali and Pulchrior, and like many in the lineages before her, Mae left home when her training was complete to begin The Search. Ironically enough, it lead her to her father in the Thousand Current Sea.

Despite this pull, there was no telltale calling of her charge when she arrived, yet the pinpricks she felt underneath her scales had her body refusing to move on. So she stayed with Clan Abyss, biding her time amongst the Deepwater Warriors, waiting for something, anything, to end her Search.

Surely enough, she found her charge here in the Sea. And not only did she find it- she ended up creating it.

Mae is the founder of the Voidcrest Command, a small sector of warriors that focus on protecting the clan and guarding their surrounding territory. She proved how necessary it was to split up the duties of the the Deepwater Warriors after spending so much time with them, finding that too many of their resources were pulled towards expeditions and skirmishes outside of their own territories. Clan Abyss left very little protection over their own defenses, something she felt was lacking yet extremely necessary.

As the commander for the Voidcrest, her primary focus is to train the others and defend the clan in any way she can. She does not teach others how to take lives, but rather how to protect them. In some way, this small faction of warriors has become her charge.

Mae is a kind, stable presence among the clan. Her sister Calon may outmatch her in raw, brute strength, but true to the nature of a defender, Mae is never knocked down and out for the count. She can be hard to approach or get to know, at least at first, due to her serious demeanor. Mae keeps a tight leash over her own emotions and won't allow herself feel anything that could even slightly damage her concentration or make her lose control over herself. Instead, her warm-hearted and protective nature is reflected through her actions.

Her sister Calon is the sword to her shield. The two have remained close since their youth, despite having completely opposite personalities. It's safe to say that Calon's emotional brashness takes after their father and Mae's calm and collected nature takes after their mother.

Mae and her father aren't close, simply because she takes after too much of her mother. He often calls her Amary's mini carbon copy. Truthfully, Mae is too physical, and Glass feels as if he has nothing to offer her. He spends much of his time with Calon, guiding her in the art of spellcasting, something Mae used to be very envious of.

Her great-grandmother Iachoku, whose taken a liking to Mae on behest of her strength, urging her to become a Reaper. So far, Mae has very studiously ignored her Nightcall heritage, privately terrified of what she will become if she ever embraces such instincts.
