After the crash of the astrolab, Amber's interest in her research has been completely rejuvenated. She's always had an interest in biology, but with a limited ecosystem to work with there's only so much you can do. Now though, she's been dropped in a positive wellspring of creatures. So much inspiration to go around! And well, maybe occasionally a creature slips out of her lab space that's not quite..... the same, as the kinds of creatures you usually see around here. Maybe she just imported them? They're usually quite small, anyhow, and quickly either recaptured or eaten by something larger. She assures everyone there's nothing to worry about. Still, she only gets a relatively small allowance of electric batteries or generators. No need to see what might happen if she started working with any bigger creatures.
