Never without pain
Note: Itami is the phonetic spelling of the Japanese word that means, well, pain.
Saphyr, the most prominent caretaker aid for the clan's hactchlings, had been astonished and heartbroken to find one within the crack of a rock beside the usual nesting area, blood running along his scales in patterns with intricacy enough perhaps be considered a painted design. With a solemn heart, she reached into the shallow crevice, and clasped her jaws around the deceased hatchling, so that she could carry him to be properly taken care of. Immediately she realized the hatchling had no scales, and had even dropped him when the "dead", frail hatchling had awoken, and stirred, startling her. If he had not been bleeding before, he was now; his weak, thin skin breaking on the slightest pull or scratch. She now knew the patterns of blood before have been his blood veins and arteries, so close to the surface, ripe to burst from the pressure of his heart alone, like a blister of skin filled with blood. Hesitant to move him again, lest she open another vein and allow the pool of blood around him to grow, she treated his wounds on the spot-where she had found it increasingly difficult to cease the flow, despite the thickest and toughest bandages she had used. No dragon knows who had sired him, or who had mothered him.
He never had been able to produce his pearl, and neither will Itami ever be able to fly, to run; he can never fight, and can scarcely move. His scaleless, almost colorless skin denies even the thought of it, every beat of his curiously strong heart causes deep, burning pain where his skin is at its weakest, the strain of exercise would surely burst them in innumerable places and ultimately causing his death. For now, he remains hidden, protected by the ever stubborn Saphyr. He constantly suffers and lives in a world of pain, never to find release save for that death; an alternative he, remarkably, would never even hope to consider. He strives on, with the will of a guardian beside his charge.

Hellbender flicks his tongue and smirks especially meanly at Itami, "Least I ain't no burden on my clan. How many of them took ya in outta pity, I wonder? A dragon as weak and damaged as you ain't nothin' to them but a way to feed their own egos, thinkin' themselves mighty altruistic to be carin' for ya. But once you're outta the picture, be it your own will or them decidin' they can't deal with ya anymore and they drive ya off, it won't be long before they don't even remember ya. After all, a Pearl with no pearl is a nobody with no way to prove their life and worth to other. That ain't hardly somethin' worth commitin' to memory. If ya can't even prove to yourself that you've lived and add to your life story, they sure won't be bothered to do it for ya."
Cupcake hesitantly steps forward, cautious not to touch this dragon as she can see how fragile his skin is, but she holds up a small bag, "Here, sir, there's fresh bandages in here, I always carry some with me in case Hell rightfully gets his tail handed to him in a fight thanks to his smart mouth. But it looks like you might find them far more useful right now. I hope the Eleven offer you their favor in all other facets of your life." She also offers him a stargazer lily, a common get-well-soon flower given to sick or injured dragons.
