The Forge Warden clan is comprised largely of warriors, battle hardened and always ready for a fight. Anyone looking at the small fae, clad in elegant red satin and velvet, might assume that she isn't one of them, that she has some quieter, less dangerous role. Nothing could be further from the truth. Kairani is as much a warrior as the clan's largest ridgeback, just as fierce and full of fury. Although her small, delicate frame does hold her back from fighting tooth and nail like the larger dragons, she is a fearsomely powerful mage, wielding her chosen element in a vicious conflagration when she enters the battlefield. Fae are known for wielding particularly strong magic, and Kairani is particularly strong for one of them, a mage among mages. Even dragons resistant to fire magic find the intense heat and power difficult to withstand. Her mate Isyrion is a mage is as well, and the two are a formidable duo on the battlefield. Kairani sometimes deigns a select few hatchlings who display skills and power that might one day be on par with her own. She makes no secret that part of the reason for the strength of her power is that she's well-read and well-educated on them. She's read both rare old tomes and spellbooks, and recent treatises written on the practice of magic, not just concerning her own element, but others. The hatchlings chosen to be tutored by her are also quietly selected for temperament. Kairani is capable of being incredibly cutting when someone doesn't understand what she's teaching them, and capable of reducing a sensitive hatchling to tears. She's particularly sarcastic as well, but non-faes find that harder to read since she speaks almost entirely in monotone. However, other faes or those who understand the complex body language and fin movements they use can understand her just fine, and her cutting sarcasm has caught more than a few adults off guard as well. |
