Aubade

a dragon who claims that he once underwent katabasis, which changed him so completely that his very physical appearance was permanently altered by the process. certainly those who knew him say that he transformed very suddenly into the visage one sees now. according to him, he went down into the dreaded underworld in order to ask the great avenger to get rid of king sullivan. his prayers have certainly been granted, though whether it was through the grace of the great avenger or the earthshaker or both - who knows? aubade now spends his days preaching what others call aubadism but he himself simply calls the good word of the gods.

reality: aubade went through an extremely traumatic experience that mauled him permanently. he changed his appearance, adorning his body with bones and skulls, in order to reclaim his appearance. the katabasis he claims he underwent is how he rationalised his experience in his mind. a bit of a nutter but not a bad guy.
