she's like an 'undecided' major in university


Azea fears that she will never find her place among this clan of intellectuals, scholars, and academics. Her mind is sharp, and her wits quick, but her soul is not that of a philosopher, and debate does not come naturally to her. She is certain that the rest of the clan judges her--finds her a burden, a waste of resources, though she does her part to gather supplies and keep the territory in order. Of course, they do not; they all see the potential in her, a young dragon barely into her prime. But no matter how they tell her so, it does not lay her insecurities to rest.

For the present, she does general work; organizing Sowilo's libraries and vaults when they need it, and helping any of the clan members who need an extra claw in their work. Many will take her on when they do not actually need the help, simply in hopes of sparking her interest, to help her find her passion.

Throughout her youth, Azea was certain that the only thing that she had to offer the world was her beauty. She wanted more than that; she wanted to contribute something of her own making, so she let her scales grow dull through lack of grooming, let her mane grow tangled. In adulthood, she came to realize, quite on her own, that the two were not mutually exclusive, but she is still untrusting of those who would value her solely for her appearance. Perhaps because of that, she ended up with Harken, a dragon quite as beautiful as her, but equally determined to be valued beyond that.
