► HISTORY
The twin-headed drake basked beneath the midday sun, their shared body draped across a mossy boulder near a trickling stream. Hyacinth’s soft pink colored eye flickered lazily to half-open, savoring the warmth of the light cascading through the canopy of twisted trees above. The prime head, his demeanor calm and unhurried, let the quiet hum of the forest lull him into a rare moment of stillness. But Delphinium, the sister head, tilted upward with a restless energy that refused to be subdued. Her sleek lavender scales caught the sunlight as she scanned the area for something—anything—of interest beyond the tranquil symphony of birdsong and leaves stirring in the wind.
Though they shared a body, their minds danced with unique rhythms. Hyacinth thrived in the ebb and flow of existence, his spirit tethered to the earth’s pulse and the rhythmic cycle of day and night. Delphinium, meanwhile, held the sharp, dynamic edge of the pair. Hers was the voice that brought action to Hyacinth’s musings, the focus that forged paths where his dreams wandered. Together, they were a balance, a yin and yang brought to life in scaled symmetry.
It was Delphinium who broke the silence first, her soft yet commanding tone cutting through Hyacinth’s dreamy haze. “You could include the marketplace,” she suggested, picking up where their conversation had left off the day before. "Picture it. Carts creaking under the weight of shimmering pearls. Stalls brimming with ocean treasures, set against the sound of tides breaking in the distance."
Hyacinth gave a deep hum, their shared chest rumbling faintly. He opened his eye fully now, the soft glow of pink meeting Delphinium’s brighter rose one. "Hmm. A good idea," he murmured, "but too many carts would crowd the picture, don't you think? And wouldn't the crabs wander off before they’re sold?”
Delphinium’s head swiveled, sharp teeth baring in the faintest curve of a smile. “Then it would be chaos, not charm. Unless—" her eye gleamed— "what if that chaos is part of the tale? A stolen lobster, the chase between seller and culprit—oh, imagine the laughter that scene would spark!”
Hyacinth chuckled at her enthusiasm. His own laughter was quiet, rolling like distant thunder, but the warmth of it spread through their shared chest, vibrating their ribcage. This was their rhythm—a spark of thought from Hyacinth, a blaze of vision from Delphinium. Each word exchanged drew them closer to creating another tale, their bond inseparable and mutually enriching.
The forest stilled for a moment, both their breaths calm and in sync. Balance was the essence of their existence—not just between their heads but in their very nature. Hyacinth offered peace, the wisdom of simplicity. Delphinium breathed life into every moment, ensuring neither rested too long or lost the sense of themselves in endless dreaming. It was how they thrived, not despite their duality, but because of it.
And so they sat on that mossy boulder—one head dreaming, the other spinning reality from the ether of possibility. Together, they turned the world’s hum into stories as they waited for dusk to herald the adventures of another day.
► CHARACTER Hyacinth was a creature of quiet depth, defined by his reactionary nature and a profound softness that touched all who encountered him. His emotions, often worn openly on his sleeve, guided his actions, and he moved through life with a gentle grace. There was an inherent sweetness in him that made him a comforting presence to others, his empathy extending effortlessly to those around him. His days were often spent in peaceful solitude, basking in the warmth of the garden, where he found comfort in simple pleasures like napping beneath the sway of tree branches or basking in the scent of blooming flowers. The calm of the garden mirrored his inner world, a sanctuary where he could recharge and process his thoughts. Hyacinth’s love for the quiet and tender moments was reflected in his fondness for writing. He often crafted stories inspired by his own life, weaving memories into words. These stories, while deeply personal, offered a window into the sensitive soul that guided him. His love for sweetness extended to food, with his heart favoring desserts and the nostalgic taste of strawberry milk—foods that reminded him of simpler times. Among his most treasured possessions was an old blanket passed down through his family, its fabric worn but rich with the love and care of generations. He carried this blanket with him wherever he went, a constant comfort in times of uncertainty. Alongside it, an ancient tome never left his side, its pages a little faded but filled with wisdom and stories that had shaped him. The book was a symbol of his reverence for the written word and the preservation of memories. In contrast, Delphinium moved through life with a boldness and a magnetic charm that captured the attention of those around her. Unfazed by conventional morality, she was both amoral and indulgent, embracing life's pleasures without reservation. Her charisma was undeniable, and her sharp wit and ease with others made her the center of any gathering. Though her actions could be unpredictable and sometimes defy moral expectations, her ability to charm and entertain never waned. Delphinium’s love for books mirrored Hyacinth’s, though her reasons were different. She found solace and excitement in the worlds that books opened up to her, and she was a seeker of experiences—often pushing the boundaries of the expected. Delphinium had a refined palate that reflected her indulgent nature, with a particular love for seasoned foods and seafood—crab being her favorite indulgence. The rich, salty flavors were as bold as her character, a testament to her appetite for both flavor and life itself. Among the few things she held dear was a pendant passed down from her family, a symbol of her roots, though she rarely spoke of it. The pendant was a quiet connection to her past, an anchor in the midst of her ever-changing adventures. Though she embraced life with a certain detachment, pursuing pleasure and knowledge with equal fervor, that pendant remained a soft reminder of the family bonds that still tethered her, even if she rarely acknowledged them. Delphinium's life was one of adventure, unapologetic in its pursuit of the pleasures the world had to offer. |
