Tanzanite is Stormthorn's spymaster and head assassin. She is cool and levelheaded, perfectly suited for the role. Despite being a Nature dragon, her physical connection to the stars grants her enhanced stealth capabilities, as well as magic that is typically wielded by Shadow dragons. Tanzanite is deeply committed to her clan.

The main goal of Stormthorn's espionage agency is protecting members of the clan, especially the leaders, when the clan guard cannot. Generally, the clan guard protects the lair and serves as armed escort. The spies, though, remain close to those they are charged with protecting, acting as advisors and/or attendants. Because of this, as well as the fact that they gather important intelligence, only those Sapphire fully trusts are allowed to join Stormthorn's espionage agency. Unsurprisingly, Tanzanite is Sapphire's main bodyguard, and goes with her almost everywhere.

Tanzanite was from a clan of Wildclaws, but didn't fit in. She disdains brute force, and believed that her clan should've capitalized on their stealth capabilities, as well as predatory cunning. She ended up leaving the clan out of frustration, and wandered on her own for awhile before joining Clan Stormthorn.

When Belladonna joined the clan, Tanzanite adopted him as her own hatchling, eventually becoming his mentor in the arts of subterfuge and assassination.
