Hi! Hello! I'm Merry. Merry the Merry Dragon. They call me Merry because I'm so merry. Can you tell how merry I am? Oh but Merry's not my actual name, it's actually Meriander, but nobody calls me that. Just call me Merry.

Did you know my favourite kind of clothing is pants? I love pants. But they told me that I was not allowed to wear any. Bummer! I would love to wear pants. If I could wear pants, I would probably wear it on my head.

Oh excuse me, my subordinates are telling me to get on with it.

You know, my dad is a wolf. Not many people know it, but it's true! I have to introduce you him one day. He carries a scale with him at all times. Like, all times. Not like a dragon scale, but like one of those balance scales. Weird right? I think he just likes it. I like balances too! I like putting little things on one of the scales and watching the whole thing tip over. That makes dad really angry sometimes. I don't know why. But it's so funny.

They say I'm a fodder rescue, but I don't really know what that means. I guess I was going to go to the Arcanist. Which sounds like it could've been really fun. I think we would've been great friends. We could've been book buddies, or star buddies or magic buddies or, or cake buddies...

What's that? He ended the world twice? Wow, that's so cool. If I had a penny every time he ended the world, I would have two pennies. Speaking of pennies, I really should get more pennies. Where's my wallet? Hang on, I gotta go find my wallet.

If I had to describe Merry, I would describe him as 'an absolute nightmare'. He's hyperactive, distracted, easily excited, constantly jumps from topic to topic, and he's just so incredibly annoying. The moment I try to talk to him about something he gets distracted by the first thing that catches his eye. It's like talking to a brick wall, except the brick wall decided it wants to eat books. Everything goes in one ear and out the other and he's just seems more concerned about the number of chocolate chips in his cookie than the wellbeing of dragons around him. Honestly I am just flabbergasted that such a dragon has the capacity to even exist, let alone live. Does he know he lives in a society? Has he no grasp on societal norms? Is he even cognizant? Who knows?? I don't know where Ashmane found a dragon like him. Apparently they went on an expedition to chase down some wild legend of the Celestial Spirits or something, and they happened to bring this dragon back. I have to admit, when they first set out, I didn't think they would find anything worth researching. But as it turns out, they did! They returned with this... anomaly of nature. If you had told me that there had been a dragon as incapable of basic conversation as Merry, I honestly would not have believed you. But here he is. His existence is borders on legendary, and I mean as a legendary disaster. He's almost like those monsters in those myths that almost ended the world, except he actually exists. I don't know how many times I've told him not to eat the books in my library, but he has become the only dragon I have ever banned from my library. And he still comes in anyway. Does he not remember or does he not even understand? In any case, I think I need to research ways to completely block a dragon from entering, just because of his existence. My years of research is at stake here! He is an absolute menace. A monster, preying on knowledge and all that is wise in the world. Thousands of years of research has been lost to this gluttonous force of nature. Lost to time, never to be read again! Gods. I swear, the next moment I see any dragon eating a bloody piece of paper, I am blasting them in the face with a fireball.
