Aequor effortlessly snakes through the sea. Beneath the crashing waves of the surface, he twirls in the dappled light underwater. After a long day of managing his clan, he had decided to take a long, calming swim. Perhaps on this journey, he might find something to bring back to his clan.
Through the dark water he moves, and he spots something in the corner of his vision. He swivels around. Nothing.
A week prior, Aequor had a blurry vision of darkness in the water. He didn't know what to think of it, but he was a little more cautious whenever swimming, ever since.
He shivers. Something brushes the tip of his tail. He races back up to the surface as fast as he can- but before he can get there, something grabs him. A dragon, its face covered in black sludge. Aequor thrashes in its grasp but the dragon's claws are strong. It opens its mouth and sinks its teeth into one of his legs.
Desperately, he uses his magic to create an illusion of another dragon approaching. The attacker releases his leg and slithers toward the illusion.
Aequor breaks the surface of the water and flies back home. Blood and dark sludge cover his leg.
What was wrong with that dragon?

After an hour of flying, he glimpses his town on the water's surface. His leg burns with searing pain.
I feel so weak...
Suddenly, one of his wings freezes. He drops out of the sky and into the water with a big splash. He sinks into the water and splashes about. Aequor can swim, but with two limbs no longer functioning, the process is slow and painful. He closes his eyes and focuses on the waves, and uses his magic to form a fast current aiming for home.
He reaches the floating town with a horribly sick feeling in his stomach. For a moment, he floats against the side of a wooden platform, too weak to pull himself up.
"Great Tidelord! Are you alright?" Exclaims a piebald dragon. "Come quick! Aequor needs help!" She shouts.
Aequor is too dazed to respond. All nearby clan members rush over to the wooden platform which the clan leader is floating next to. The water around his injured leg is cloudy.
"He's hurt! Help him!" Shouts a dragon with a blue parasol in her talon. "Shasea! Get in!" She points to a nervous looking dragon with a pointed nose.
Shasea plunges into the water and attempts to lift Aequor over the edge of the wooden platform without touching his leg. With great difficulty, Aequor hoists his arms over the edge and sinks his claws into the wooden boards.
He opens his eyes and meets gazes with a horrified brown dragon, who he knows as Arete. Aequor tries to lift himself up, to no avail. He hurls. Blackened water pours from his mouth onto the wooden boards. Arete is horrified and dashes away as gasps of shock resonate from the clan members. Shasea uses all of her might, and lifts Aequor's legs and tail with her back. She hauls him onto the platform.
Aequor coughs up more black muck.
"help... me..." he whispers. He falls limp. The only thing keeping him on the platform are his claws, sunken into the splintered wood.

Species Information

Aequor is a spiral/ imperial hybrid. Both breeds are equally visible in his appearance. He has traces of other breeds in his history, but he does not know which.

Hybrids are the norm in Sornieth. Dragons have produced offspring together for so many generations that "pure blooded" dragons, or a hybrid of only two breeds, are rare. Very mixed dragons are typically categorized with the top three breeds they resemble most.
