The Vampire Of The North

Outside the stiff, cold walls of Valhalla is nothing but miles upon miles of the Waste, a desolate, dust and death-covered land nearly impossible for any stranded outsider to survive. For any outsider, that doesn’t hail from the north, that is. Even before the Wipe, geographic and historic evidence strongly suggests that there was hardly any life or settlements in the harsh tundra, barely a building in sight due to the region’s rough and obviously unforgiving conditions. As such, it wasn’t hit nearly as hard as the other, much more dense regions, and anyone left living in the far north would’ve been able to make it mostly unscathed: As was the case with a Pearlcatcher by the name of Draco Kadlec. Draco was encountered on a scouting mission in Northern Hyperborea consisting of Lasher H., Retkha P., and Vegasah T., with the goal to map out the area and bring back data on the region’s environment, with the hopes of possible expansion into the area if deemed safe enough. While traversing the scope of the Great Neptunian, a sixty-mile, frozen lake near the center of N.H, they had encountered a tall, stone-brick tower, covered in a deep snow layer with hardly any decor in sight. Thought to be abandoned at first, they had stormed in to investigate and scavenge the scene, only to be surprised to find that it was, indeed, habited by a lone Pearlcatcher, being Draco. He initially initiated a physical altercation with the group in an attempt to both defend his home and himself, however, they were soon able to explain things to him, and they were all able to negotiate. Things were soon mulled over, and though he refuses to live in or engage with its community, Draco was now an official citizen of Valhalla. Though the dragfolk are often excited about the possibility of a new member for the small community of Valhalla, you'd find that most don't exactly mind Draco not residing within its walls, for his rude and antisocial behavior renders him a rather unpopular figure. He’s quick to throw insults and dismiss other’s words without so much of a second thought, a sneering pessimist whose smile is nearly never seen. The most anyone sees of him is his monthly arrival into town to drop off loads of ice to the local businesses who need it, such as Donato’s tavern or Tiggson’s animals, growls at whoever tries to talk to him, and then leaves for the north without another word. |
