Biography

Named for the Titaness of wise counsel. She was the first wife of Zeus, but he learned of a prophecy that her child would be greater than its father, and so he swallowed her up (much like his father Kronos) to stop the prophecy from occurring. Metis remained alive in the back of Zeus' mind and eventually gave birth to Athena.
