Stolas

This is my Fandragon of Stolas from the show Helluva Boss!







I don't know if this is interesting or fun for anyone but me, but here's my thought processes behind all the details I chose for him:


Breed
I heavily considered Skydancers for the lankyness and bird likeness, but ended up going with a Coatl for the upright bipedal pose, feathered wings and general owlyness. The outfit I put together also ended up looking a bit neater on a Coatl!


Colors
I wanted to lean into the more purplish shades that Stolas is usually bathed in in the final shots of the animated show because I associate him a lot with that purplish lighting rather than just the base gray shades from his character art.


Genes
I went with Ribbon for the primary for the largely light face marking, and I think the rest of the pattern matches the owl vibe pretty good as well! A simple Blend for the secondary to represent a night sky in the wings, with Sparkles tertiary for stars.


Accessories
I combined the Ruby Starsilk Cloak with the Plume Mantle to recreate his royal cape with the white fluffy collar, and added some light gold accents with the Chancellor Mitts, Anklets, Pastel Crown and the matching set of Wing drapes. I like that the drapes also have the moon and stars on it! I also added some dark tailfeathers, as well as Scarlet Wooly Antennae on the head to match and balance out the other red pieces.


Familiar
I was torn between the Spellbound Tome and the Book Swarm for a bit. I like the Tome thematically, but the colors didnt really match the dragon. The Book swarm was a bit more matchy - But as I went through other available familiars, I spotted this red writer's quill that looks exactly like the one he was using the Look My Way music video, and it matches his colors perfectly - so I went with that!
