Biography

Ebrillwen the silent, the one who Sees the winds
"i can see it, moving, shifting. i feel it calling me, whispering of past and future... what does it mean, mother? i want to know."

A calm, sweet little dragoness. Ebrillwen is the adopted daughter of Jaementhe, heiress of the clan. she speaks rarely, and when she does, she either speaks softly, whispers and murmurs of criptic riddles and predictions, or harsh, crude sayings that have no regard for her conversation partners emotions. they dont have fins, after all, so how is she supposed to know how they feel? she is not a psychic, mind you. the only ones capable of having a true conversation with her are the mistress Ahere, her mother, and Alcyoneus. although conversations with the latter often end with arguments or fights. mainly fights.

bright. thats the first thing she remembers.
"we have to go! no time for the egg!" is the second thing.
egg? what is an egg? who are those two dragons?
whats this dark thing over her?
-
dark. thats the next thing she remembers. everything is dark and swaying and moving, and she is scared, scared, scared.
'hush my child, you will be fine.'
who said that? that didn't sound like the dark. it sounded nice, warm, soft.
it was comforting, talking to her. but why didnt the dark say anything? until now, every voice she heard was answered by the dark.
she didnt like the dark.
she liked the nice, soft voice.
'sleep, little one. you will find your home soon. have no fear.'
she nodded at the voice, a quick motion. she yawned.
it was exhausting, hatching and going from dark of the egg to bright of outside and back to dark of this bag.
she closed her eyes.
'don't worry child. i am here. now, sleep.'
she did.
-
this was different. it wasnt dark, but it wasnt bright.
it was dark-strip-bright-strip-dark-strip-bright-strip and overall, very confusing.
she didn't understand she was in a cage.
'just sit love, just wait, you will be free soon.'
the voice was nice and not confusing at all.
she sat.
she looked.
so many different dragons! big, small, spiky, smooth, furry, scaly, and in so many colours and with so many items and scents and eyes and auras!
the voice kept talking to her, explaining.
the voice told her that this dragon is an imperial dragon, and that the one over there with the funny rock is a pearlcatcher, and that she was a fae and the dark was a ridgeback.
she sat there, transfixed, looking back and forth at all the dragons coming and going and going and coming, and it was all so exiting! she wanted to be with them too!
'soon, my sweet child, soon.'
-
all the little fae could do is stare.
that big guardian was so pretty! she was pink ('coral', the voice said, but she was pink and the voice was being a dummy) and she had big crimson wings and big crimson eyes and pretty shiny bracelets and she was very, very pretty.
she looked at the guardian and the guardian looked back. she knew the pretty dragoness was only there for food or appearal (thats the word the voice used for the clothes and jewelery- quite silly if you ask her!) or even familiars (the wierd non-dragon but also not-food animals that were also in cages, according to the voice), but the pretty guardian always looked at her in the end.
her eyes were sad.
why would such a pretty dragon be sad?
'because she sees you are in a cage.'
why is it bad? isnt it natural?
'no my love, dragons are meant to be free. what the trader is doing to you is wrong.'
oh.
but still, she isnt in a cage. why is she sad?
'because she is good.'
what does it matter?
'it means she knows you shouldnt be here, in a cage, my love.'
oh.
she is coming closer! she is even prettier up close, her scales so shiny and her eyes so bright and alive.
she looked at the tiny fae, smiling gently, before turning to the ridgeback.
"why, pray tell, do you hold a hatchling in a cage?"
"she wasnt a hatchling when i borrowed her! how was i supposed to know she was an egg?"
lies. she knew he was lying.
they both knew, and the voice sounded very angry.
he even said some very bad words!
"then why didn't you bring this child back when she hatched?"
"i borrowed an egg, i cant bring back something that isn't an egg."
"then why is she in a cage?"
"because she is my property, thats why."
"i thought you borrowed her?"
"oiy, either you buy, or you leave."
"fine, i'll take the hatchling."
"allright, thats 30,000 treasure."
"she is a living being!"
"so are deaths head stags, you dont see anyone whining about them. now, 30,000 cash or go away."
with a hiss, the pretty guardian threw the money on the ridgeback's desk.
"you are vile and you make me sick. may the plaguebringer wreak your body with disease and ravage your brain with worms."
she grabbed the cage with the fae before striding off, angry and upset.
-
this hill was different then the market.
it was so green.
the door to the cage opened, the guardian gently picking up the little fae.
"hello little one!" she smiled at her.
'say hello back, dear.'
"hello back, dear." the fae squeaked.
the guardian laughed, a nice, flowing sound.
"tell me sweety, where did you learn that from?"
oh no. she couldnt tell her!
the voice said not to tell ANYONE about him!
she shookshookshook her head, closing her little eyes.
'its alright. you can tell her. she will understand.'
really? she would?
'yes. now, go on.'
"the voice told me."
"what voice?"
"the voice in the wind."
realization slowly downed on the guardian as she smiled.
"well, little one, i need to ask you this. will you come with me? i will take care of you. if you dont want to, we will find your parents." she said, looking at her tiny fae friend.
"i wanna go with you."
"you do?"
"yes."
"oh, thats... great! do you have a name little one?"
shakeshakeshake
"do you want me to... give you one?"
'say yes.'
nodnodnod
"alright, how about... Ebrillwen?"
nodnodnodnod!
with a smile and a laugh, the guardian raised the tiny fae to her head, allowing her to rest perched between her horns.
"alright, Ebrillwen. i am Jaementhe."
"mommy."
after a moment of stunned silence, Jaementhe smiled.
"yes. i am your new mommy."
she found her charge.
she started walking off towards the wastelands of the plague, the wind bringing a bitter, but not unpleasent, scent to the tiny fae.
"now tell me, my child, are you hungry? you must be starving!"
she nodnodnodded again, earning a chuckle from her new mother, as well as a few bugs given to her.
Ebrillwen ate hungrily as her mother continued walking forward towards her new home.
