TW: Mentioned Child Abuse, Child Experimentation
The Self Updating Tome of Halcyon:
As a young hatchling, Halcyon was forced to participate in a dangerous magical experiment meant to augment a dragon's natural magical capabilities. While the experiment was successful in some sense, it had several unforeseen consequences. The young dragon's magical capabilities were average before the experiment, but now his baseline is higher than even some high-level mages. But Halcyon's mind and body were not prepared to handle the sudden influx of magical energy and he never fully recovered.
Halcyon is a quiet sort with an off putting gaze. He never seems to be entirely present in the real world but instead trapped in his mind. While his eyes never seem to be in focus, it always feels like he can see right through any lie/mask in front of him. Halcyon's claws are always shaking erratically, like he is in the midst of being electrocuted.
____ is Halcyon's trusted familiar, and functions as both a friend and a service animal. He is responsible for reminding Halcyon to eat, drink, sleep, and generally function.
Like NightSky, Halycon had a sibling. Unfortunately, the same experiment that gave him his magical ability took Badari's, life. She managed to live for several years after the incident, but her health was always fragile. Shortly before Halycon began working at the Nexaris Research Institute, Badari finally died peacefully in her sleep. It is unknown if Halycon has even registered her death.
