Arirang was taken from his Ice clan as a hatchling, another one of the Wildclaws nurtured by Rarity to increase their numbers in Sideris Clan when they were a part of Arcane. He was the youngest son of his family, and his older brothers were all positioned to take up the ranking duties of their clan.

So Rarity wormed her way into their bartering at the Ice border, as Sideris occasionally had dealings with southern clans that were more open to outsiders, and she arranged for Arirang to move to Sideris. He has few memories of his early childhood in the Southern Icefield, but has struck up an unlikely friendship with Achaean due to their common ancestry.
Rarity noticed the young Wildclaw due to his rare, shining crystalline hide. Constantin was drawn to him for the same reason. So as the young dragon matured, Constantin maneuvered into his friendship with Achaean and started to persuade Arirang to join him in the host club. Being shy and rather uncomfortable, Arirang was hesitant but eventually gave in. Constantin immediately began teaching him how to be suave and classy and the crystal male proved to be a surprisingly good actor, though he still enjoys a romp out on a hunting mission or fierce sparring that befits his Wildclaw nature.

Considering Arirang to be her pride and joy, Rarity soon set out to find him a prospective mate. She came back with another crystal Wildclaw, the Arcane-born Rosenthal, and sent her to the host club to spark some interest between her and Arirang. But Constantin was not particularly happy to see a mate for his fellow host appear, fearing it would interfere with his job entertaining guests. So Constantin began to work against Rarity by trying to convince Arirang against the mating. Ultimately, Rosenthal and Arirang agreed to do as Rarity asked but do not take much part in each other's lives beyond that, largely satisfying both of their clanmates' pressures.
