Biography

Silver couldn't remember the name she had chosen. She had been so focused on the thrill of the stolen egg and the possibility of raising her own dragon, that she had forgotten to come up with a name for the small, speckled creature. The would be mightt dragon was for bow no bigger than a lizard.

But now, as she sat perched atop a nearby tree and observed the ravens fussing over their new, unexpected gift of eggshells she couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. She wasn't prepared for this, not really. She'd wanted a ba y dragon so bad but she didn't even know what they ate. This wasn't fair to the birds, who had probably been saving up for months to have their own offspring only to be confused by this empty shell. And it definitely wasn't fair to the dragon.

Silver knew she had to make things right. She carefully climbed down from the tree and crept towards the ravens' nest, trying not to startle the protective parents, making sure to leave a small offering of shiny trinkets as an apology.
"I don't think they cut rider's heads off for stealing their own dragon eggs before they hatch but just in case they do you'll keep an eye on my treasure won't you clever birds?"

She then made her way back to the hatchery, where she explained everything to the caretaker and apologised profusely for her reckless actions. The caretaker, though initially furious, couldn't help but be intrigued by Silver's story and her desire to raise a dragon herself. Together, they came up with a plan to return the egg to its rightful place and Silver was given the opportunity to work at the hatchery and learn how to properly care for and raise dragons in between battle training and her other duties as a soldier. Silver would just have to think of a new name for her future dragon when the time came. Lesson learned, mischief managed, and fate restored. Christmas at the hatchery would go on as planned, but it would have to settle for third place behind the ravens and their new found riches and the palace mice who are always remarkably well fed this time of year.
