붉은 깃털이 나풀거린다. 까만 실크해트에 멋드러진 장식 깃털을 달고 가벼운 몸으로 공기를 가르는 이에게 시선이 쏠렸다. 이 레어 안에서 제법 이름을 날리는 그는 금속성의 빛을 띤 날개 피막을 한껏 펼친 채 공기를 뒤흔들고 있었다.

자그마한 속삭임이 레어 한 쪽을 수놓았다. 끝없이 별이 쏟아지는 밤을 닮은 몸, 마치 칼날 같이 번쩍이는 날개, 몸을 수놓은 짙은 녹색의 기하학적인 무늬까지 영락없이 옛 이야기에 나오는 기사가 떠오른다. 다만 그 기사다운 위엄은 그림 같은 외형에서만 느껴질 뿐, 곁에 다가가 살펴보면 반짝이는 붉은 눈동자에 소년의 개구짐이 가득했다. 때로 몇 배나 큰 친구의 주위를 바람 같은 속도로 날아 먼지를 뒤집어 쓰게 하며 웃음을 터트리는 모습은 보는 이까지 작게 웃게 만들곤 했다.
