Alaula did not hatch with the rest of her siblings in her clutch. While her two Spiral brothers were learning to walk on their shaky legs, Alaula's egg gave no indication she would come out at all. When she finally emerged days later, unfolding her wings and stepping out into the light for the very first time, she immediately knew that she did not belong in the Dusk Sanctum. The scholars did not interest her, she did not like the shadows, and she didn't care much for the company of her clanmates. From the beginning, Alaula knew that she was not where she belonged.

When she was older, she left her home and traveled to the Tidelord's Domain, where she devoted herself to him and became one of his priestesses. She made offerings, prayed to him at his temple, and tended to the sealife in his name. When she found the Feywild Clan, a sense of peace came over her that she had never before known, and Alaula was home.
