He dreams of the day when the rule is over.
He knows it will happen (it must happen); he sees it in his dreams (his nightmares) every night.
He fights to his very death trying to protect his lords (endangering the future while trying to protect the very same thing), but his hands lose grip of his sword's hilt. His future's own comrades strike him again and again in ways against which he cannot defend himself. He bleeds out on the marble floor (in vain, in futility). His lord is overthrown; no further malicious action is taken against the citizens of Yomon by his lord's government.
It doesn't always happen that way, however. Sometimes, the future is the one to go instead.
He sees his comrade (his lover) soil the ground with entrails, cleaved in two from the civil war. He pretends to be unaware of his lord's circumstances and fights for his lost future (his dear, lost Future). The war ends and he is imprisoned for life.

Heimdallr is attested as possessing foreknowledge, keen eyesight and hearing,
and keeps watch for the onset of Ragnarök while drinking fine mead in his dwelling Himinbjörg,
located where the burning rainbow bridge Bifröst meets heaven.
Heimdallr is said to be the originator of social classes among humanity
and once regained Freya's treasured possession Brísingamen.
