Biography

✧ Kaz Brekker Kaz Brekker, or better known as Dirtyhands, is the fabled leader of the Dregs, a terrible gang who rule over Murkbarrow Close. After a chilling incident in his childhood involving the death of his brother, Kaz has found himself unable to bear the touch of anyone, and is deathly afraid of all diseases. Despite his weaknesses, he puts on a frightful facade which silences all those who dare to question his authority. On the surface, Kaz appears as a rough and stoic dragon, but he is deeply insecure and afraid in his heart. He disguises his true emotions, pushing them down until they threaten to burst in favour of keeping everyone else away.

Story Kaz and his brother, Jordie, resided in the Wispwillow Grove from a young age. After the sudden death of their parents, Jordie took it upon himself to lead them both to salvation, making a dozen risky financial gambits along the way. Despite Kaz’s hesitance, Jordie was insistent that this was their only path forward, and so the two continued their treacherous journey. When they both fell into a dreadful debt, the two were thrown onto the streets and into the Foxfire Bramble, where they both fell ill with a terrible disease. Kaz and Jordie were subsequently exiled into Quarantine zone #128, and Kaz used Jordie’s dead body to hide from officers and make it back to the Tangled Wood. |
After attaining such power, he began to branch out and recruit the crew which he knows and loves. When he met Inej on a heist gone wrong, he agreed to pay off her debt immediately, and she decided to work with him in his gang. Even after recruiting his other friends, Kaz regards Inej as the only person he can, and will ever, fully love. He fights the ghastly hands of his past every day to be just a bit closer to her.
